Neck Lift Surgery in Houston, TX

While many men and women practice diligent skin care and sun protection on their face, they often forget about the neck, which is one of the first areas to experience noticeable aging. Sagging skin and vertical banding develop quickly, often making an individual look much older than they are. Neck lift surgery is performed for patients looking to restore a smoother, younger-looking contour.

Am I a Candidate for a Neck Lift?

Individuals who are dissatisfied with sagging skin and vertical banding on the neck and jawline may be candidates for a neck lift. Neck lift surgery is most often performed alongside a facelift to maintain balance and harmony between the features. Candidates have realistic expectations of their results, are in good overall health, and do not smoke. During the consultation, Dr. Patronella will examine the extent of skin laxity as well as your medical history to see if you may be a candidate for neck lift surgery.

How Is a Neck Lift Performed?

Neck lift surgery addresses both the top layer of skin as well as the deep tissues. Incisions for this procedure begins in the hairline near the sideburn and runs down and around the ear, finishing at the scalp behind the ear. Through these incisions, the underlying tissues are repositioned and tightened, and the excess skin is trimmed away before the incisions are closed with sutures.

Which Procedures Are Commonly Combined With a Facelift?

How Long Is My Recovery After a Neck Lift?

Swelling, bruising, soreness, and tenderness are expected after a neck lift, and patients should keep their head elevated to promote blood circulation. Dr. Patronella will prescribe oral pain medication. However, some patients may be able to rely on over-the-counter medicines to reduce discomfort. Most bruising and swelling will subside within two to three weeks as the skin and tissues continue to heal.

Depending on the combination of procedures, most patients are required to take about one to two weeks off from work, and six to eight weeks away from strenuous exercise and activity.

When Will I See My Neck Lift Results?

After the procedure, patients will witness the noticeable tightening and smoothing of their neck contour. Skin laxity and vertical banding will improve, and jowls will lessen.

Neck Lift Frequently Asked Questions

Am I the right age for a neck lift?

Like most plastic surgery procedures, there is no “ideal” age for a neck lift. The right age for a neck lift is when you are tired of your neck laxity.

Individuals commonly between 40 to 70 years old may be appropriate candidates for neck lift surgery. The best way to know if a neck lift is right for you is to schedule a consultation.

Are there any risks involved with a neck lift?

All surgical procedures come with some level of risk. Common side effects of a neck lift include bruising, numbness or tingling, swelling lasting several weeks, and scars..

Can I get a neck lift without surgery?

While some non-surgical treatments can tighten skin on the neck and chest area, such as Ultherapy®, no non-surgical treatments can rival the results provided by a surgical neck lift. Dr. Patronella will examine your skin laxity during your consultation to determine which treatment is best suited for your needs.

When will I see the final results of my neck lift?

Your neck lift results should gradually appear over the next several months. You’ll also see additional improvements in your skin tone, texture, and appearance. The treated areas may be red for one to two days after your neck lift.

How long will a neck lift last?

As swelling and beauty resolves after surgery, the firmer, more youthful appearance of your neck will be revealed.

A neck lift can last for years. To maintain results, we recommend patients follow a healthy lifestyle, protect their skin from the sun, refrain from smoking, and undergo periodic non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatments.
