How Can TRUE FORM ABDOMINOPLASTY® Change Your Abdomen After Pregnancy?

3 Minute Read:

While the emergence of a baby bump is the subject of many selfies and social media posts, the stubborn tummy pooch that often remains long after the baby’s debut gets a lot less love.

To regain the sexy, toned abdomen of their pre-pregnancy days, many women try an assortment of strategies, including clean eating, ab crunches, pilates, yoga, and fitness boot camp, only to find that the pooch won’t budge.

Many women are often frustrated and surprised that their very diligent efforts to strengthen their cores have been unsuccessful at eliminating the abdominal bulges that have been present since their pregnancies.

During pregnancy, the tissues (fascia) between the abdomen’s rectus muscles are stretched and thinned. These tissues’ weakening causes the internal organs to protrude, creating the bulge some women refer to as a “tummy pooch.”

While exercise can strengthen the muscle and improve the bulge slightly, it will not strengthen the strong, tendon-like fascia tissue between the muscles.

How Can I Get Rid of My Stubborn Tummy Pooch?

Unfortunately, no amount of exercising and dieting can fix the culprit behind a postpartum tummy bulge.

However, Dr. Patronella developed his True Form Tummy Tuck® to restore an attractive, fit appearance to the abdomen. With this procedure, he repairs the weakened muscle wall and removes loose abdominal skin.

How Can I Eliminate My C-Section Scar?

Removal of a noticeable C-section scar is one of the much-appreciated benefits of tummy tuck surgery for Dr. Patronella’s patients who have previously undergone cesarean sections.

While most of these women may have reasonably decent C-section scars, others have indented scars, emphasizing the appearance of loose skin hanging above it or along the sides of it if it is vertical. These scars develop because the scar tissue tends to cling to the deep tissues beneath it, giving it a retracted appearance.

This, in combination with the loose abdominal skin that commonly results from pregnancy, causes many women who have had C-sections to feel self-conscious about the appearance of their abdomens. This insecurity often limits their confidence to wear form-fitting clothing styles and swimsuits.

In most cases, a tummy tuck is required to eliminate this scar and the loose skin above it. As part of the True Form Tummy Tuck® procedure, Dr. Patronella releases the deep scar from the underlying tissues to which it’s attached and removes it along with the excess skin. He then resculpts the abdominal appearance, creating a smooth transition from the skin above the incision line to the skin beneath it.
