Brow Lift in Houston, TX

The appearance of our face can say a lot about our age, and it is the first area of our body to show noticeable signs of aging, especially around the eyes. The position of the eyebrows can cause someone to have an angry or tired expression due to certain factors like the loss of skin elasticity or the effects of gravity. Sometimes sagging skin can develop around the brows, causing them and the upper eyelids to “droop” down and interfere with your field of vision. Brow lift surgery can remove excess skin, raise the position of the forehead and eyebrows, and tighten the underlying tissues of the area to produce a revitalized and more youthful aesthetic.

Am I a Candidate for a Brow Lift?

Patients who want to achieve any of the following cosmetic objectives may be a potential candidate for brow lift surgery:

Smoothed forehead wrinkles

Eliminated hooding of the upper eyelids

Improved shape and arch of the eyebrows

A more youthful appearance

Restored confidence in your facial appearance

What Is the Brow Lift Procedure Like?

Brow lift surgery is performed in less than two hours using general anesthesia. During your procedure, several small incisions are placed within the hairline, which has little effect on the hairline and will leave minimal scarring. Then, excess skin is removed, and the drooping muscles are lifted to a natural, more attractive position and sutured into place.

What Can I Expect With Brow Lift Recovery?

It can take two weeks for incisions to heal and for side effects to subside completely. Makeup may be applied to conceal residual bruising and swelling. Stitches will be removed one week following your procedure, at which point you will be able to return to work and your usual activities. Strenuous exercise, however, must be limited for several weeks or until cleared by Dr. Patronella to ensure optimal healing.

What Will My Brow Lift Results Be?

Patients will notice their newly “lifted” upper face provides a rejuvenated appearance that complements their natural facial contours. With proper skin maintenance and a healthy lifestyle, patients can enjoy their brow lift surgery results for many years.

What Are Some Frequently Asked Questions About Brow Lift Surgery?

How long does brow lift surgery take?

It usually takes one to two hours for the procedure to be complete.

Is a brow lift painful?

Dr. Patronella performs brow lift surgery under general anesthesia so you will not feel any pain during the procedure. You may feel sore for several days after the surgery, but Dr. Patronella will prescribe medication to help alleviate any pain.

When can I return to work after brow lift surgery?

You will be able to return to work within one to two weeks after your procedure. You will have some swelling and light bruising in and around the surgical area, but this typically diminishes within one to two weeks.

Will there be any scars?

As with any invasive surgery, there will be scarring with a brow lift. However, one perk of brow lift surgery is that the incisions are made in the hairline, so scarring will be minimal and hidden from sight.

How long does a brow lift last?

A brow lift usually lasts 10 to 12 years, though many patients have enjoyed their results longer than that. To prolong your results, you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle, which includes a balanced diet, regular exercise, and a good skincare routine. However, it is important to understand that a brow lift will not stop the aging process.

What procedures can I combine with my brow lift surgery?

Many patients choose to combine their brow lift with other procedures, including:

How do I know if I need a brow lift or an eyelid lift?

Many patients who experience noticeable signs of aging in the upper third of the face are unsure whether they need a brow lift or an eyelid lift. Often, patients who present noticeable aging on the forehead (such as deep horizontal creases) or sagging eyebrows are candidates for brow lift surgery. Alternatively, patients with hooded upper eyelids and/or heavy bags beneath the eyes are candidates for blepharoplasty. However, in some cases, the cause of a hooded upper eyelid is the pressure placed on the tissues by a sagging brow. In those situations, a brow lift is performed to eliminate that pressure.

These two surgical techniques are commonly performed together for balanced, natural-looking results.
