Will You Need Implants With a Breast Reduction and Breast Lift Procedure?

When patients come in because they are feeling their breasts are too large and too low on their chest, they often ask whether they need breast implants to provide volume to the upper portion of the breast. My answer typically is that an implant during breast reduction would be counterproductive, and I strongly advise against it in the majority of circumstances. During the breast reduction and lift procedure, I usually can take a woman’s own breast tissue, and transfer this to the upper part of the breast to give her upper pole fullness without an implant.
