Hair Reduction Laser
Although no method of hair removal is completely permanent, laser hair reduction can greatly reduce the need for shaving and waxing, and the sometimes accompanying razor bumps and ingrown hairs. It is a popular hair reduction treatment among both men and women, and can used to treat any area where a smoother, stubble free appearance is desired, including the face, bikini area, chest, back, underarms, and legs. The ACPS Added Touch Medical Spa offers hair reduction through its the Candela 1064 Gentle: YAG and the IPL 650-1200 nm handpiece. The hairs that are being treated with lasers should be at least stubble length for satisfactory results.
The amount and length of treatments depends on factors such as hair and skin color; recent tanning or sunburn; use of certain medications and the location of the area that is being treated. You may experience temporary redness in the treated area after the laser procedure, but most patients' normal activities are not interrupted. Dr. Patronella advises that you avoid sun exposure for a few days after treatment to avoid hyperpigmentation of the treated areas. In addition, individual factors such as hair and skin color can affect the required number of sessions. .
