Eyelid - Blepharoplasty
Eyelid Surgery, or blepharoplasty, will restore a refreshed, alert appearance to your eyes by repairing drooping and sagging lids, and undereye bags that can cause the eyes to appear tired and aged. This procedure gives the eyes a more youthful look, and may help to correct vision impairment that is caused by excessive sagging skin in the lids.
The Eyelid Procedure
incisions are placed in the creases of the upper eyelids and close to the lash line beneath the eyes so that scars will be well concealed.Through these incisions, the muscles are tightened, excess skin is removed, and fat is repositioned.
A youthful look requires a balanced removal of excess tissue, yet preservation of a healthy fullness of the eyes. Overtreatment causes an unattractive hollow look that worsens with age and usually cannot be repaired. Dr. Patronella is careful to achieve this balance, removing the proper amount of fat and tissue to create and preserve a a more youthful look.
Eyelid surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia in one to three hours. After one week, stitches will be removed, and patients may return to work within five to seven days. Strenuous activities may be resumed in approximately three weeks.
