Birthmarks and Tattoos

Laser technology is successful in treating and removing birthmarks (including port wine stains), tattoos and others types of pigmented lesions. The lasers work by destroying vascular malformations in the skin through the use of selective absorption, allowing for minimal discomfort to the patient. However, more than one treatment may be needed to reduce or eliminate the discoloration associated with the birthmark, tattoo or lesion. Dr. Patronella will determine the number of treatments during your consultation with him.

Following laser treatments, most patients are able to immediately return to normal activities. Only trained physicians who understand the effects of improper exposure to the lasers should perform laser treatments.
